Economic Empowerment Series
The New Mexico Office of African American Affairs (OAAA) is committed to collaborative efforts that prepare business owners and potential entrepreneurs for today’s competitive business market. By partnering with other business organizations and identifying resources that enhance the economic terrain of New Mexico’s African American business owners and professionals, OAAA contributes to the successful history of entrepreneurship in New Mexico. One of the long term goals of OAAA is to track and provide resources to Black owned start up businesses and to develop a directory of Black owned businesses in New Mexico. Through its Economic Empowerment Series, OAAA can provide workshops on how city, state and federal government contracts can be applied for financial literacy, promoting youth entrepreneurship, economic forecasting, business promotion, other business related topics.
- Work with financial institutions and economic empowerment organizations to increase visibility and access to available business start-up and operational funds, and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with organizations such as NM Workforce Solutions and various Chambers of Commerce training programs to provide job training and skill development opportunities for African Americans.
